Wavecrest is a croft-side campsite in Borve on the west of the Isle of Barra, about five minutes by car from Castlebay and the ferry terminal. The pitches face out over the Atlantic, so sunsets are the main entertainment, and it is a handy start or finish for the Hebridean Way.
Vans, campervans and caravans can have grass pitches with or without hook-up. Tents are limited to small, low-profile ones for one or two people, so family tents are not allowed. Bluebell, the shepherd's hut, sleeps two with a kettle, microwave and basic crockery, but you bring a sleeping bag.
There is a toilet block with coin-operated showers, a kitchen with hot water, microwave, fridge, kettle and a wifi hotspot, plus a fresh water point and chemical waste disposal. Bookings are by email only.
