The Secret Campsite is an 8-acre site at Brickyard Farm in Barcombe, north of Lewes, run with wildlife first. There are 16 meadow pitches, usually at least 15 metres apart and screened with native plants, each with its own fire pit. Cars park at reception and you wheel your kit across with the barrows and trolleys provided. There are no dogs, no music and no big groups, and bookings are limited to two pitches.
The wash house has flushing toilets with free loo roll, solar-heated showers and a washing-up area with lots of hot water, plus two freezers for ice packs. There is a staffed reception, a takeaway cafe called the Secret Teapot, firewood and charcoal for sale, and solar-powered electric car charging. A farm shop is 200 yards down the road.
If you would rather not bring a tent, the site has three raised or pitched shelters: an Okra, a gridshell and a tree tent slung between oaks at the edge of the ancient woodland.
