Chalky Downs is a small tent campsite at Bevendean Farm, on the downs above Brighton. It is about two miles from the city centre and the sea, with buses and a train station nearby, but the pitches look out over open hills and farm animals including goats.

There are 36 grass pitches and 11 bell tent bases. No electric hook-ups and no caravans, but small campervans are fine. Facilities are three showers, five toilets, a washing-up area and a fridge-freezer and charging points. Breakfast baps can be delivered to your tent.

It is open from early May to the end of September, and weekends fill early.
