Gillside is a farm on the edge of Glenridding, run by the same family for over 60 years. The campsite has room for about 60 tents and caravans, plus a small area of five electric tourer pitches, and sits where the main path up Helvellyn starts. Glenridding's shops, cafes, pubs and the Ullswater shore are close.
Besides camping it lets four-berth holiday homes (they used to be called static caravans) and a stone bunkhouse sleeping 20 in rooms of 7 and 13. The toilet block has hot showers, deep sinks for washing up and a laundry. Dogs are welcome across the park, and fresh milk and eggs come from the farmhouse. A breakfast van opens at weekends.
