Thirlspot Farm Camping
Simple, cheap touring site for motorhomes, campervans and caravans on the A591 between Keswick and Grasmere, with a path up to Sticks Pass.
- Dogs welcome
Thirlspot Farm Camping is a small farm site beside the A591 at Thirlmere, roughly halfway between Keswick and Grasmere. It takes caravans, motorhomes and campervans up to 8 metres long; tents are not taken. You can pitch on grass or hardstanding, and there are electric hardstanding pitches for a bit more.
The pricing is unusual: a small charge for the pitch, then a per-adult charge on top, so a couple in a motorhome pays about £29 without electric. The toilet and shower block and the washing-up area have free hot and cold water. The site is a base for the Helvellyn range, Skiddaw and Blencathra, and you can walk up towards Sticks Pass from the site. Open fires are not allowed, but barbecues raised off the ground are fine.
- Cheap pitch fees: £5 for a grass or hardstanding pitch
- Walk up towards Sticks Pass from the site
- Free hot showers
- Midway between Keswick and Grasmere
