Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park

Award-winning family and couples park above Derwentwater, under two miles from Keswick, with touring pitches, a tent field, glamping pods and hire caravans.

Castlerigg Hall sits on a hillside above Derwentwater, less than two miles from Keswick, and the Walla Crag path and Castlerigg Stone Circle are both a short walk away. It takes families and couples only, so there are no stag or hen groups and no big parties.

There are four kinds of touring pitch on gravel hardstanding (basic, hook-up only, fully serviced and a superior lake-view version), plus a sheltered sloping tent field with no electric. Campers get an indoor heated kitchen with free ice-pack freezing and wifi. Behind the tourers are five types of pod, from basic timber huts where you bring everything to hex pods with a bath or balcony, and a handful of static hire caravans let by the week.

The toilet blocks have underfloor heating and have won Loo of the Year awards, there is laundry, a farm shop with Calor gas, and a small gallery cafe serving cake and brews at lunchtime. Quiet hours start at 10.30pm and generators and drones are banned.
