Herding Hill Farm is a working-farm campsite near Haltwhistle, about a mile from Hadrian's Wall and under the Northumberland dark skies. The touring field has 23 electric pitches, thirteen of them large hardstandings (nine fully serviced) and five grass pitches for tents, open from Easter to October. Everything is on a one-way system with a 5mph limit, and it is run as a quiet site with no noise after 10:30pm, so it does not take parties or large groups.

Beyond pitches there are seventeen insulated wigwam cabins, some with a toilet and some with a hot tub, five adults-only Castle Pods with their own hot tub and wood-burner, and a three-bedroom lodge that sleeps six. The heated amenity block has free no-push showers, baths, a campers' kitchen, laundry and a sauna you can hire by the hour. Families get a Roman-fort playground, a ball field and a petting farm with alpacas, goats, a donkey and a Shetland pony. Dogs are welcome on a lead, with a fenced exercise field and a hot-water dog wash.
