Haggs Bank sits at Nentsberry in the North Pennines, in an old lead-mining building that now serves as a bunkhouse. The tent field is part of a wildflower meadow with terraced pitches looking over the valley, and there is a small wooded area where you can hang a hammock tent. Cars drop off kit by the pitches and then park in bays across the road, which keeps the field quiet for children.

Motorhomes and caravans use the car park, where there are electric hook-ups and an Elsan point. Showers and toilets are in the bunkhouse building and included in the price. The bunkhouse sleeps 25 in three rooms and can be taken whole for groups. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads at no charge. Camping is booked by email or phone, and the owners say they usually have room for unannounced arrivals.
