Mains Farm Caravan Site

Working sheep farm above the River Eden near Kirkoswald with electric tent pitches, touring caravan fields, pods, tipis and a bunkhouse.

  • Some dogs
  • Campfires
  • Glamping

Mains Farm is a family-run campsite on a working farm in the Eden Valley, a short walk from Kirkoswald and with the River Eden along the bottom of the site. Every tent pitch comes with an electric hook-up, and the touring caravan pitches sit in two near-identical fields along walled hedgerows, with a separate adults-only field called Woodside across the lane.

If you would rather not pitch a tent there are twelve camping pods, cotton tipis with raised decking from May to September, and a converted sandstone bunkhouse with three four-bed rooms. Facilities include two shower blocks, a small kitchen in the old dairy, an honesty shop, a Wi-Fi workshop and an enclosed play area. Four private bathrooms can be hired by the night.

Rules are family-friendly and firm: no music, no groups, no stag or hen parties, and quiet from 11pm. Lazonby, with a heated outdoor pool and a supermarket, is about a mile and a half away, and the bunkhouse sits half a mile off the C2C cycle route.

  • Electric hook-up on every tent pitch
  • Tipis, pods and a bunkhouse as well as pitches
  • Hire a private bathroom by the night
  • River Eden along the edge of the site
  • Half a mile from the C2C cycle route
