Fisherground is on the western side of the Lake District in Eskdale, 300 yards from the King George IV pub and a short drive from Boot and the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway. The camping is on grass in a quiet valley that gets less rain than the central Lakes. Pitches are sized by tent footprint, from a 2 x 2m plot for a solo walker to 6 x 6m, with a separate backpacker pitch for anyone arriving without a motor vehicle.

Children get a pond with rafts, a tree house and an adventure playground with a zip wire and rope bridges. Campfires are allowed in the wheel-rim fire pits provided, with sacks of logs on sale. The shower blocks were rebuilt recently and there is a drying room, laundry and a family shower room. There is no shop on site; Eskdale Green store is five minutes away by car. Caravans are not accepted, and bookers must be over 21.
