Seathwaite Farm is a working farm at the head of the Borrowdale valley, about nine miles from Keswick by road. The camping field sits at the end of the lane beyond the farmyard, with a small stream running through it and a waterfall at one edge. Tents, campervans, motorhomes, caravans and roof tents all pitch on grass, and there are no electric hook-ups.
Facilities are basic: a shower and toilet block by the farmyard (hot showers are a pound), plus waterless eco-toilets in the field. Campfires are allowed only in a fire basket, dogs are welcome, and the site says it is aimed at families and couples rather than groups. Booking is by email only and payment is cash on arrival.
The fells are straight from the gate, with Scafell, Great Gable and Honister Pass close by, and skies are properly dark at night. The pubs at Stonethwaite and Rosthwaite are about 2.5 miles away and a bus runs from the end of the lane.
