Wasdale Campsite
National Trust campsite with 100 tent pitches, pods and a tipi, a mile from Wastwater and at the foot of the Scafell Pike routes.
- Dogs welcome
- Glamping
Wasdale Campsite is run by the National Trust in the valley between Wastwater and Wasdale Head, a base for Scafell Pike and Great Gable. Wastwater is about a mile off, with launch spots for kayaks and paddleboards.
About a hundred natural tent pitches are scattered through tree- and hedge-divided fields, with or without electric; you choose a size when booking and are allocated a pitch on arrival. Cars stay in the car park. Campervans and motorhomes under 6.5m use hardstanding electric pitches by the car park; the narrow access means no caravans.
For something sturdier there are eight pods (basic, standard and furnished) and a tipi with a woodburner and double bed. There are shared showers, laundry, a shop, EV charging and accessible facilities. The site closes 24 to 26 December.
