- Campfires
Baysbrown is a grass camping field on a working farm at the head of Great Langdale in the Lake District. There are no marked pitches and no bookings: you arrive between 2pm and 8pm, check in at the house, and choose your own spot on the field. It suits tents and small campervans rather than caravans or motorhomes. There is no electric hook-up, no Wi-Fi, and mobile signal can be patchy.
The basics are covered: toilets, showers, washing-up, drinking water and bins, plus a phone-charging point and a freezer for ice packs. It is a no-music, quiet-hours site, so it suits walkers, climbers and cyclists who want to be out on the fells all day rather than people looking for entertainment. Chapel Stile, with its shop and pub, is less than a mile away.
- Walks and climbing straight from the field
- No bookings: arrive 2pm to 8pm and pick your own spot
- Chapel Stile shop and pub less than a mile away
- Dogs welcome on a lead, with a dog-walking area
- Raised fire pits and barbecues allowed until 10.30pm
