Rydal Hall Campsite
Quiet woodland tent campsite in the grounds of Rydal Hall, a mile from Ambleside, with hydro-powered showers, three unfurnished pods and three log cabins.
- Dogs welcome
- Campfires
- Glamping
The campsite sits in woodland within the estate of Rydal Hall, a Diocese of Carlisle retreat house below the Fairfield Horseshoe. Ambleside is about a mile away on foot and Rydal Water and the Rydal Caves are close by. Pitches are for tents only, with cars left in separate parking areas, and some pitches need a short uphill walk from there.
The shower and toilet block runs on the estate's own water supply and hydro power, with plug sockets and hairdryers inside and a small freezer for ice blocks. There are also three unfurnished eco pods for people who want a roof but not the pitching, and three woodland cabins with log stoves, a gas hob and bedding at the top of the site. It is run as a quiet site: no amplified music, no stag or hen parties and no same-sex groups.
