High Borrans is a small lodge park on a 1,000-acre Swaledale sheep farm, reached up a long single-track lane off the A591 near Ings. Windermere is about two and a half miles away and Ambleside under twenty minutes by car, but the park itself is quiet and aimed squarely at couples: every lodge sleeps two and the place is not set up for children, groups or stag and hen parties.
Each of the seven lodges has a king-size bed, a fully equipped kitchen, an electric stove and a deck, with the three dog-friendly ones (Spinney, Copse and Dell) having an enclosed deck. A shepherd's hut called Percy sits in a private cherry orchard with its own fire pit. There is a free laundry room by the entrance, wifi in every lodge and very little mobile signal, and you share the lane with sheep and cows, so dogs stay on leads.
