Pier Cottage Caravan Park
Small family-run touring field on the east shore of Coniston Water, with metered electric on every pitch and weekly Saturday-to-Saturday bookings from April.
See all 11 photos- Dogs welcome
Pier Cottage is a small touring field running down to the shore of Coniston Water, with views over the lake to the fells. Every pitch has its own bollard giving metered electric, fresh drinking water and a TV aerial point, and the site takes caravans and motorhomes. Pitches are not guaranteed: they are allocated on arrival and posted in the office window, with regular guests tending to move to the lakeside pitches as they come free.
Booking works differently from most sites. It is by email only, not phone, and bookings open about a year ahead. March can be booked for any run of nights from two; from April the pitches go in weekly blocks, Saturday to Saturday. Boats can be brought for a small per-night charge, dogs are welcome on a lead, and there are no day visitors. Pubs and cafes are within walking distance.
