Bwch-yn-Uchaf is on the edge of Llanuwchllyn in Snowdonia National Park, about a mile from Llyn Tegid at the foot of the Aran and Arenig hills. The river Twrch runs along the length of the site and the steam trains of the Bala Lake Railway pass alongside.

The site has two parts. The first is a three-quarter-acre area with 12 electric pitches, eight of them hardstanding, which is certified by the Camping and Caravanning Club. The second is non-electric, unallocated and unmarked, with more space and pitches by the river. Both take tents, caravans, motorhomes, campervans and roof tents.

There is a toilet and shower block at the entrance, a play area, a gated dog run, a small shop and fire pit hire with wood. The owners also run a 4-room adults-only B&B in the old stone house beside the railway.
