Wild-camping fields on a 650-acre Denbighshire estate beside Alwen Reservoir, with dark skies, a short walk from the car park and limited phone signal.
See all 3 photos- Dogs welcome
Hafod Hall is a family-run estate at about 1,500 feet above sea level near Bylchau in Denbighshire, bordered by woodland, a nature reserve and Alwen Reservoir. Tent spots are spread out through the fields, so you park in the car park and walk about three minutes to your pitch.
There is little mobile signal, a house phone at reception, and a dark-sky night. Toilets and showers are shut from October to April because of snow and frost, though the owners try to offer a shower and toilet in the main house.
Wood baskets for campfires are sold at reception. Children under 3 are not accepted, and under-18s must have an adult with them. The nearest basic shop is in Pentrefoelas, 10 minutes' drive.
