See all 5 photos- Dogs welcome
Birchbank is a hill farm between Coniston Water and the Duddon Estuary, well away from the busy lakeshore villages. The camping area is a small, mostly flat grass field beside the farm with a stream along one side and a gate straight onto the open fell. There are 24 pitches, eight with electric hook-up, plus a hardstanding area, and tents, caravans and motorhomes are all taken.
The Cumbria Way is about half a mile away and the Lakes and Dales Loop cycle route a quarter of a mile, so it suits walkers and cyclists who want quiet. Facilities are simple: WCs, showers, a basin with razor point, a dishwashing sink and a chemical toilet emptying point. The farm also lets a two-bedroom cottage next door all year, bookable online.
