Avon Wood Holiday Home Park
Small lakeshore park south of Bowness with rental lodges, hot-tub retreats and caravans on Windermere, with its own slipway.
Avon Wood is a small park of privately owned and rental holiday homes in woodland that slopes down to the south-east shore of Windermere, on the A592 about 2.5 miles from the Newby Bridge roundabout. There is no touring or camping here; you rent a home.
The rental homes are Blakeholme Lodges that sleep six, a Bowness caravan for four and a set of adults-only Retreats with outdoor hot tubs. Guests can launch canoes and small boats from the park slipway. The nearest pub and shop are at Newby Bridge, three miles away, and a car is needed. Mobile signal is weak, with Vodafone said to be best.
