Moss Howe Farm is a working farm at Witherslack, at the foot of the Winster Valley on the quiet southern edge of the Lake District. It is about 15 minutes from junction 36 of the M6 and from Windermere at Newby Bridge, and the Derby Arms pub is a short walk away. It is run by Long Valley Camping, who also run yurts and campervan hire here.

Tent pitches come in four sizes, from a 2.5m by 3m hiker plot up to a 5m by 7m premium pitch with its own picnic bench and fire bowl. Larger pitches take campervans and motorhomes, and about half the site has electric hook-up. Beyond camping there are four Mongolian yurts and two mini-lodges, one with a wood-fired hot tub. The shop sells local food, coffee, logs and ice cream, and the converted cow shed is now a taproom serving beer, cider, pizza and pies.

Dogs are welcome on a lead for £2 a night, and there is a strict no-noise rule after 10.30pm, with no amplified music.
