Tan Hill Inn Camping

Tent-only field beside Britain's highest pub, right on the Pennine Way at 528m, 10 pounds per person with no booking needed.

This is a basic tent field next to the Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain, on open moor where the Pennine Way crosses the road. It suits walkers who want a pint and a hot meal at the end of the day, and the sky is properly dark.

There is no online booking: you register with the pub staff when you arrive. Toilets are on the side of the pub building, the outside shower is seasonal (staff will let you use their shower when it is closed), and you pay per person rather than per pitch.

Rules are strict and enforced: no campfires, barbecues or gas stoves, no glass, and any food or drink you bring must stay on the campsite rather than in the pub or car park. It is exposed and weather changes quickly, so bring a sturdy tent.
