Royal Oak Campsite

Tent and small-campervan field behind a Peak District pub at Hurdlow, with the High Peak and Tissington Trails at the bottom of the grounds.

The Royal Oak campsite sits behind the pub at Hurdlow, a short drive from Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne. In the main season it has 19 marked grass pitches over two levels, each with room for a tent and a car, and a few larger pitches with their own picnic bench and fire pit.

There are no hook-ups or hardstanding in summer, and only tents and small campervans up to 5.3m are accepted: no caravans, motorhomes or gazebos. In winter the car park is used for campervans and a few top-field pitches stay open, with reduced toilets and showers.

The High Peak Trail starts from the bottom of the grounds, so it works well for walkers and cyclists, and the pub serves food every day. A bunk barn and a separate field for Duke of Edinburgh groups are also on site.
