Portree Campsite sits at Torvaig on the Staffin road, on high ground about 80 metres up on the edge of Skye's main town. Forty grass pitches are for tents and another forty hardstandings, each with its own 16 amp socket, take campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Some tent pitches slope, and the site is exposed enough that sturdy tents and pegs are recommended.
There are two shower and toilet blocks, a dishwashing and coin-operated laundry area, and a service point for fresh water, grey water and chemical waste. Wifi is free, dogs are welcome and there is a fenced dog area. It is a bookings-only site for holiday stays of up to ten days, and you can walk down into Portree. No campfires, but raised barbecues are fine.
