Glenbrittle Campsite

Big, wild-feeling field campsite on Skye with its own beach, a cafe and shop, right under the Cuillin and a short drive from the Fairy Pools.

Glenbrittle sits at the end of a single-track road on the west coast of Skye, at the foot of the Black Cuillin and beside the sands of Loch Brittle. It has run since 1961 and is run by the MacLeod Estate. About 160 pitches are scattered in pockets across the field and down towards the shore, so even a full site feels loose rather than regimented.

Fifty pitches have electric hook-up: six hardstandings near the facilities and beach suit small campervans up to 6m, and 44 larger grass pitches have the sea and mountain views and take big tents, campervans and motorhomes. Non-electric pitches are not bookable and are allocated on arrival, first come first served.

A cafe serves coffee, baking, soup and pizza through the day and a shop sells basics and camping kit. The shower block, laundry, pot wash, outdoor shower, chemical and grey waste points are all reached by vehicle tracks. It is popular with climbers and hill walkers, and wardens live on site.
