Applecross Campsite

Family-run campsite above Applecross Bay with room for 60 tents and vans, heated camping huts and three static caravans, a five-minute walk from the pub.

The Goldthorpe family has run this campsite since 1973, on the farm land at the Mains of Applecross just above the bay. Two fairly level fields of soft grass look across to Skye and the Cuillin; the overflow field has the better view and no caravans. There is space for about sixty tents, motorhomes and tourers, and hard-standing for vans is free but must be booked ahead.

If you would rather not bring a tent, there are heated camping huts (wigwam and wishbone styles) sleeping up to four, with mattresses, lights and a socket but no kitchen, and three two-bedroom static caravans with full kitchens. The shower block has hot water, there is a laundry room, and the pub and the bay are about five minutes on foot. Reaching it means the Bealach na Ba, a steep single-track pass with hairpins, or the longer coast road.
