Outdoors@Hay is an outdoor activity centre half a mile up a lane from Hay-on-Wye, looking out to the Black Mountains. The camping field is deliberately simple: no electric hookups, no shop and no play area, but free hot showers, a dish-washing area, a shared fridge and room for a fire.

Pre-erected options include five-metre bell tents, a boat-shaped Nordsman tent with a wood burner and a larger Tylau cabin on a raised deck. Tylau Lodge sleeps 12 and is let to groups or as hostel beds when free. They don't take caravans or motorhomes. Dogs are allowed on the camping field under strict conditions, but not in the pre-erected tents. Prices differ during the Hay Festival, which has its own camping pages.
