Priory Mill is a working mill farm on the Hay Road above Brecon, with a camping meadow running down to the River Honddu behind the Grade II* corn mill. The owners have kept it deliberately simple: there are no marked pitches, no electric hook-ups and no clubhouse, and you choose your own spot in the meadow. Brecon's market, pubs and cinema are a ten-minute walk away.
It is a site with firm house rules. Children under 13, dogs, groups and caravans are not taken, and only four small campervans (around 5m, VW size) are allowed at a time. Music is out, quiet falls after 10.30pm and everyone sorts their rubbish into the recycling bins. In return you get a camper's hut with fire trays, free phone charging and a freezer for ice packs, hot water for washing up, and wood and charcoal to buy on site.
Pricing is by person rather than by pitch. The site is usually open from April to September, but dates vary, so check their availability calendar and book by email. Payment is cash on arrival.
