Laxdale is a small, tree-lined park on the edge of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, a handy base for exploring Lewis and Harris. Tents and tourers share the grass, with about 19 electric touring pitches and roughly 31 tent pitches, four of them with electric. A heated amenities block has free showers, laundry and facilities for wheelchair users, and there is a campers' kitchen and a shelter for wet days.

For a roof over your head there are two sizes of wooden Wigwam pod that take dogs, a two-bedroom lodge, a twelve-foot-wide holiday caravan and a 16-bed bunkhouse. The park fills for the Heb Celt festival in mid-July, when an extra field a short walk away opens for campers.

  • Wigwam pods that accept up to two dogs
  • Bunkhouse sleeping 16 for walkers and groups
  • About 1.5 miles from Stornoway
