Clachtoll Beach Campsite is a level grass field of about two and a half acres on the Stoer peninsula, five miles north of Lochinver. A boardwalk through the dunes leads from the site to Clachtoll beach, and the water is clear enough that the beach is part of a snorkel trail. Most of the serviced pitches look out to sea, the unserviced ones face the hills.
Pricing is simple: you pay for the pitch, which covers one adult and whatever you bring, from a small tent to a big motorhome. Dogs, awnings, trailers, showers, Wi-Fi and the loan of kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and wetsuits are all free. There is an undercover kitchen with gas hobs and an open fire most nights, a small shop with local sausages, eggs and fresh fish, a laundry, and a separate wash-down area for dogs.
Walking, fishing, wildlife-watching and the Split Rock are all close by. Phone signal is patchy except on EE and the Wi-Fi is slow. Generators and campfires on the grass are not allowed, and groups of three or more bookings must ask permission first.
