Sango Sands sits on the clifftop above Sango Bay in Durness, close to the top-left corner of mainland Scotland. Tents and anyone who does not need power simply turn up and pick a spot from noon, as the grass pitches are not marked out. Electric hook-ups are the only thing you reserve in advance, and the site caps those at 50 bookings a day.
The toilet and shower block was rebuilt in 2019, and there is also dishwashing, laundry and a campers' kitchen with a breakfast bar for tent campers. Dogs stay free. The pub and restaurant on site are not serving food at present, though a breakfast bar sells hot rolls and drinks, and a mini supermarket stands next to the site. In the dead of winter a stripped-back service runs for self-contained vehicles only.
