Gwern Gof Uchaf is a no-frills tent field on a 750-acre family hill farm, with the farm's land running from the edge of Llyn Ogwen up to the summit of Tryfan. It suits walkers and climbers who want a simple base in the Glyderau.
Facilities are minimal: toilets and showers, drinking water, a washing-up area and firewood to buy. Up to eight people can share a pitch however many tents they bring. Campervans and roof tents are allowed on a walk-in basis only because parking is limited and vehicles are kept off the grass pitches. There is also a bunkhouse sleeping 14, with a kitchen, drying room and central heating.
Cafes and pubs around Capel Curig are three to four miles away.
