Ferry View is a small family-run campsite at Gills Bay in Caithness, about four miles from John o'Groats and under a mile from the Orkney ferry. It sits on the North Coast 500 and is open all year. Every pitch is fenced, and the five motorhome pitches have hardstanding. Tent pitches are grass with space to park one car. Caravans are no longer accepted.
Instead of shower cubicles there are three full private bathrooms in a centrally heated block, booked by slot on arrival so each can be cleaned between users. Next door are dishwashing sinks and a laundry with two washers and two dryers. There is a communal fire pit, a games area with giant Jenga and swingball, and a woodland walk. Electric hook-up is available on all pitches when on site.
Mr Eddy's, the licensed on-site cafe, serves breakfast, lunch and pizza from a converted bus. Drive-up visitors can use the Pit Stop to fill water, empty waste and shower without a pitch.
