  • Dogs welcome

River Dart Country Park is a 90-acre parkland attraction on the River Dart, a mile off the A38 near Ashburton, with a large touring and camping area attached. The camping is split across several named fields (including Walled Garden, Lower Riverside, Village Green, Meadows and Riverside), with grass pitches with or without electric, hardstanding pitches, and fully serviced super pitches. Pitches are roughly 11m by 11m and are allocated by the booking system, though you can email to ask for a particular spot.

Camping gets you free entry to the playgrounds, lakes, toddlers' beach and walks for the length of your stay. Dare Devil activities (high ropes, zip wire, canoeing, caving) and the Dartmoor Bike Park cost extra on selected dates. There are modern shower blocks with free hot water, laundry, a cafe-bar and shop that open seasonally, tennis courts and a dog walking area. Campfires and charcoal barbecues are currently banned because of fire risk; at other times raised barbecues are fine, but you cannot burn wood. It also has a winter touring season on hardstanding pitches, and nine en-suite B&B rooms at Holne Park House.
