Horton Common is a five-pitch site on the Lask Edge ridge in the Staffordshire Moorlands, run by a family who set it up in 2014 and won the Camping and Caravanning Club's Best CS award in 2015. A road leads from a wide, set-back entrance to each hardstanding pitch, so it stays usable in wet weather.

Every pitch has 16A power, two fresh water taps and a hose-and-trough grey water drain, and there is an easy-to-use chemical disposal point and a defibrillator. There are no toilets or showers, so bring a chemical loo. Dogs are fine on a lead at no charge, and the rest of the field can get boggy if you want an awning or have children who want to play.
