Hoddom sits in the grounds of a border tower on the Hoddom and Kinmount estates in Dumfriesshire. Caravans and tents are spread through partly wooded parkland rather than packed into one field, and the park has a shop, games room and a separate restaurant on site.
Touring caravans and motorhomes go on hardstanding with hook-up, tents on grass either with or without electric. For something without the tent there are wooden glamping cabins and kelo lodges, a king bed in a Finnish-style hut at the end of the camping field. Bedding and cooking kit are not supplied, so bring your own.
Golf is the park's party trick: a 9-hole course, with day, monthly and season passes, and a salmon fishing beat on the estate.
