Hilly Cow is a small glamping site on Leyden Farm, up a long farm road above Kirknewton in West Lothian. The wooden wigwams sit in a row looking over the Forth valley, each with its own decking, picnic bench and fire pit. Ponies, rabbits, goats and hens live on the farm and there are lambing tours in April.
Wigwams come in four types: standard (shared shower block), standard plus (a private shower and toilet hut beside the wigwam), ensuite (own toilet and sink) and deluxe (own shower room and small kitchen, two with a hot tub). All sleep four or five. A central building has showers, a kitchen and diner, a games room and a drying room, and there is a play park outside.
Edinburgh is around ten miles away and Livingston five. Kirknewton has trains and a shop, about 2.5 miles down the hill, so a car helps. Bring your own bedding and towels or hire them.
