Mortonhall sits on a wooded country estate on the southern edge of Edinburgh, about four miles from the Royal Mile. The No. 11 bus stops near the entrance, so most people leave the car on the pitch and ride into town. It is a popular base during the Fringe, when the park runs festival camping.

Touring pitches come in four types: plain grass, standard (grass with electric), premium (hardstanding with electric) and full service (hardstanding with electric, water and grey waste). Tents are welcome too. For something softer there are eight wooden wigwams, three shepherd's huts with their own shower and toilet, and caravan holiday homes to hire.

A new toilet and shower block with a campers' kitchen arrived in 2024. The park also has a licensed shop, launderette, games room, play areas, a bookable BBQ hut and the Stables bar and restaurant in the old courtyard. Open fires are banned, generators are not allowed and dogs must stay on the lead.
