Dalkeith Country Park runs a seasonal summer campsite in the grounds of the estate, just off the Edinburgh bypass and around 20 minutes from the city's main attractions and festivals. It is traffic-free once you are on the field, with parking close by, and you choose your own pitch when you arrive.

Small, medium and large pitches are available, and there are pre-pitched bell tents with air beds if you would rather not bring a tent. Up to two dogs per pitch are allowed, but not in the pre-pitched tents. Raised barbecues are allowed on the campsite only.

Campers get discounted entry to the Fort Douglas adventure playground and the Go Ape treetop trails (the Go Ape discount excludes Saturdays); tickets must be booked in advance. East Lothian beaches are under half an hour's drive. The site is closed for 2026 and 2027 details are not yet published.
