Slatebarns Caravan Park

Small owner-run touring park for caravans and motorhomes beside Roslin Glen and Rosslyn Chapel, seven miles from central Edinburgh.

See all 4 photos

Slatebarns is a small adults-and-vans touring park run by a couple on the edge of Roslin, a few doors from Rosslyn Chapel and Rosslyn Castle. Every pitch has an electric hook-up, and you can choose between hardstanding and grass. It takes caravans and motorhomes only: tents, pup tents, gazebos, residential vans and commercial vehicles are all turned away.

The village pub (dog friendly and serving food daily), a Co-op and a tearoom are a five-minute walk up Chapel Loan, and the Edinburgh bus stops opposite, running every half hour on weekdays and through the night. The woodland walks of Roslin Glen are on the doorstep and the Pentland Hills about three miles away. August fills early because of the Edinburgh festivals, so book ahead. The park shuts for winter at the end of August and reopens in late March.
