Forest Garden is six acres of Sussex woodland just outside East Grinstead, at the edge of Ashdown Forest. Four log cabins and two yurts sit roughly 50 metres apart, each with a wood burner, a gas hob, basic cookware and its own fire pit and grill. There is no mains electricity in the units, just lanterns, low-voltage lighting and a socket that takes a phone charger, and no Wi-Fi.
Showers and toilets are shared, in a block by the car park 70 to 150 metres from each unit. You leave the car there and wheelbarrow your things through the trees. A woodland cafe uses produce from the forest garden, and you can book a wood-fired sauna or a green woodworking or beekeeping course.
Dogs are allowed by arrangement for a nightly fee. Bookers must be 25 or over, and check-in days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
