Badgells Wood is a camping area set inside ancient woodland on the Birling Estate near Meopham, close to the Kent Downs. Tent pitches are spread among the trees in three areas: Tudors Spring, a short step from the parking, The Oaks, a little deeper in, and Great Park Wood, a quiet adults-only patch. Every pitch has its own fire pit, and firewood grown on the estate is sold at reception.

There is no electric, no wi-fi and little phone signal, though the hot showers, composting loos, drinking water and recycling are all there. Pre-erected bell tents with real beds are available for those who do not want to bring a tent, and eight pitches take small VW-style campervans. The site runs activities such as bushcraft, archery and foraging and sells pizza, coffee and wine. Caravans and large vans cannot be taken.
