Three Hares is a small family-run field on a 25-acre smallholding in a sheltered valley just outside Drewsteignton, inside Dartmoor National Park. A stream runs along the camping field and there are ponds on the land, so the owners ask that children are supervised at all times. It is signposted as easy to reach from the A30.
Facilities are deliberately plain: flushing loos, free hot showers (the water is mostly solar-heated), a timber washing-up shelter, a shared fridge-freezer, and rubbish and recycling collection. Fire bowls can be hired and logs and charcoal bought on site. There is no wifi and no dogs are allowed because of the neighbouring sheep.
It takes tents and small campervans only; caravans, tourers and larger motorhomes cannot get down the lanes, and nothing over 6 metres is accepted. Drewsteignton's community pub is a 25-minute walk, and the nearest farm shop is a few minutes by car.
