Beech Tree sits on a working farm outside Moretonhampstead, inside the Dartmoor National Park. Pitches are unmarked across a level six-acre field and an adjoining copse, so groups can camp together with room to spare, and a granite-ringed fire pit sits in the middle.

Showers, toilets and phone charging are in a converted railway carriage, with a washing-up and recycling area beside it, and a 1950s ex-army mess tent is open to everyone for cooking and wet-weather meals. There are no hook-ups. Three reservoirs are a mile down the lane, and the owners lend bikes. The season is short: mid-July to mid-September.
