Rising Sun Farm is a small, self-contained site on Cartworth Moor, a mile and a half above Holmfirth. It takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, each on a 6m x 6m pitch with space to park one vehicle beside you, and a maximum of four people per pitch.
The facilities are simple: a toilet with basin, a shower, electric hook-up points, a vegetable prep area, water and a chemical disposal point. The views run across Holmfirth to Castle Hill one way and the Holme Moss climb the other, which suits cyclists following the 2014 Tour de France route. Dogs are welcome on a lead; no fires are allowed. It is a Camping and Caravanning Club certificated site, so you need Club membership, though the owners say they can sign you up on site.
