- Campfires
Dog Hill sits on 11 acres of gently sloping grass beside Crompton Moor, on the edge of Oldham. There are a couple of long camping strips sheltered by trees, a bigger open field with views and a fire area, and a small wood with flat spots for hammocks and bivvies.
Facilities are simple: a renovated block with three toilets and one shower, a bunkhouse with a kitchen and wood burner, and a woodpile selling logs by the barrow. It is run by volunteers and mostly used by scout and guide groups, but the public can camp too. No bins on site, so take your rubbish home.
