Nantcol Waterfalls is a working farm campsite in the Artro valley above Llanbedr, with flat grass beside the river so that you hear running water wherever you pitch. The licence covers up to 62 tent pitches and 23 caravans or motorhomes, 35 of them with hook-up including six hardstandings. Non-electric tent pitches are not marked out, so you can pitch to suit the weather.

Fires are allowed, but only in raised fire baskets (hire at reception) using bought logs, because the site is in a tree preservation area. Dogs are welcome on pitches but must be tethered at all times as there is livestock on the farm. The site is music-free and aimed at families and couples rather than groups.

For something more comfortable there are two en-suite pods with underfloor heating, a simpler pod with a log burner, three Luna bell tents by the river, and holiday cottages. Shell Island's beach is two miles away and the walk to the falls starts from the field. The access road is single track, which is why arrival is after noon and departure before.

Camping is charged per person per night: £14.50 per adult and £6 per child aged 4 to 16 (£12.50 and £5 in low season). Under 4s free. Prices include VAT. A deposit equal to the first two nights is taken at booking; for one or two night stays, full payment. No refunds. Showers are 50p for 5 minutes. Cottage rates are not published.
