Bennar sits just off the coast road between Barmouth and Harlech. A wooden boardwalk runs from the site through the dunes to the beach, so the sea is a few minutes' stroll away and sunsets are the main evening entertainment. All pitches are grass, 9m by 9m, numbered and allocated before you arrive, with a site map emailed a couple of days ahead. Tents, campervans and motorhomes have their own pitches, and touring caravans and larger motorhomes have theirs, each with or without electric.
Facilities are simple: toilets and showers, outdoor washing-up, a dog wash, an outdoor beach shower and a chemical toilet point. Raised fire pits are fine, awnings cost nothing extra and dogs are welcome on a short lead. A private sauna under the trees by the beach can be booked separately. The site is strict about quiet after 10pm. A shop, chippy and pub are a short walk away.
