Lochranza Caravan and Campsite
Quiet family-run campsite on the north end of Arran with tent, campervan and motorhome pitches, heated camping pods and an open winter season.
- Some dogs
- Near beach
- Glamping
Lochranza Campsite occupies two acres of flat grass in the village of Lochranza, on Arran's north-west coast, squeezed between the Chalmadale burn and the village golf course. There are level grass pitches for tents and campers, six gravel hardstandings for motorhomes and caravans, electric hook-ups on most pitches and five wooden camping pods. The site is unlit and has dark skies, and the village, castle, distillery and shore are an easy walk away.
Facilities are better than the back-to-basics feel suggests: a heated washroom with hot showers, an accessible shower room, a laundrette, a covered washing-up area, an outdoor cooking shelter, free wi-fi and a communal room with a drying cupboard for boots. The reception shop sells essentials, Arran produce, maps and gas. Open fires are not allowed (barbecues on stones are fine), dogs are welcome on a lead but not in the pods, and music and ball games are discouraged. Unusually it stays open through most of the winter, and there is a pitch-and-putt course next door.
- Open through winter, with its own winter tariff
- Five wooden camping pods with heaters
- Dark skies, with the shore a five-minute walk away
- Walks start from the site, including to Fairy Dell
- Reception shop with local produce and walking maps
