Balmichael is a working smallholding in the middle of Arran, near Shiskine, with the glamping set out beside an alpaca paddock. There are three barrel pods that sleep four, each with its own outdoor wash hut, and two big canvas safari tents that sleep six with an indoor kitchen, shower room and a wood-fired tub on the deck.

The site is run as a quiet family place: there is a play area, games room, laundry and drying area, and an honesty shop for basics and animal feed. The alpacas, ducks and chickens are part of the stay, and the owners run alpaca sessions next door. Dogs are accepted in the two tents and one pod on a lead because of the livestock. Cars stay in the car park once you have unloaded.
